The mission of the Student Health and Well-Being (SHW) cluster is to promote a culture of health and well-being for the student community, deliver equitable high quality innovative services, incorporate inclusive approaches, and celebrate diversity, with the goal of adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors contributing to the academic success and personal development of all students.
Student Health Services
We provide quality medical services to meet the diverse needs of UCSD students including primary care, urgent care, women’s health, sports medicine, transgender care, behavioral health, travel care, nurses clinic and optometry. Laboratory, pharmacy, and x-ray services are available on-site to facilitate the care of students.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS offers an array of services ranging from diverse psychotherapy approaches to online self-help applications. CAPS also delivers preventive, early intervention and targeted psychoeducational outreach and consultation, all from a wholistic, integrative, and student centric approach.
Health Promotion Services
We work to identify, establish and promote policies and activities that contribute to the personal health of students and the collective health of the campus community.
Student Health and Well-Being Administration
SHW Administration provides insurance, clinical billing, and medical record support for students alongside the business, financial, data analytics, and human resource infrastructure that services the Student Health and Well-Being cluster, collections, facilities, and space.
